Our Team
Patient care at the Center for Weight Management is approached as a team from initial consultation through post-operative support. Team members are experienced professionals trained specifically in the care of bariatric patients.
Dr. Smith, Dr. Wroblewski, and the entire surgical weight-loss team strive for excellence in maintaining a success rate that measures well above the national average.
Daniel Smith, MD
Dr. Smith graduated from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, in 1983, and completed a general surgical residency in 1988. He has been board-certified in general surgery since 1989, maintained certification in surgical critical care since 1989, and was recertified in 1997. Dr. Smith has practiced at St. Joseph's since the summer of 1989.
Robert Wroblewski, M.D.
Dr. Wroblewski graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 2003. In 2008, he completed his surgical residency at the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences Department of Surgery where he studied under Dr. Smith. Dr. Wroblewski became a member of St. Joseph's surgery team in August 2008.
Sandy Jones, PA
Sandy is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. She worked at Dakota Clinic in Walker, MN, for three years before joining Dr. Daniel Smith to assist his practice. Sandy sees patients at Innovis Health in Park Rapids as well as assisting in surgery at St. Joseph's.
Leah Walters, RD, LD, CDE
Bariatrics Program Coordinator
Leah is a registered dietitian with a bachelor of science degree. She has been at St. Joseph's Area Health Services since 1998. Leah is certified in adult weight management, and as well as being a certified diabetic educator.
