The Ministry of Health recently named the Center for Weight Management (a service of St. Joseph’s Area Health Services and Innovis Health) a “U.S. Preferred Provider.”

The Center for Weight Management now offers two adjustable gastric banding procedures, LAP-BAND® System and REALIZE™ Band.

Erin Hensel was Dr. Daniel Smith’s first adjustable band procedure patients to lose 100 pounds. She once carried more than 300 pounds on her 5-foot, 10-1/2-inch frame.

The Center for Weight Management now offers the LAP-BAND® System as an option for patients. This procedure places an adjustable gastric band around the upper part of the stomach which is then filled with saline. This creates a new, smaller stomach pouch that holds only a small amount of food.
